Fashion, As a Symbol of Social Status To Barometer Culture Change

What is Fashion?

For centuries, individuals and societies have used clothes and other body decoration as a form of nonverbal communication.

Fashion is also useful to indicate occupation, rank, gender, locality, class, wealth, and group affiliations.

Fashion is a form of freedom of expression. This includes not only clothes but also accessories, jewelry, hair style, beauty and body art.

What we wear, how, and when we wear it, someone else will assess how our social status.

Fashion as a Symbol

Fashion is a language of symbols and iconography as a non-verbal communication about individuals and groups.

Fashion in all its forms of tattoos, pierced belly button, until the latest hair styles, is an example of the iconography to reveal the identity of ourselves.

Fashion as a Barometer Culture Change

How we perceive the beauty or ugliness of the body depends on space and time. Maybe we will not say a woman who painted in the 18th century is beautiful if we use the prevailing standards of female beauty in 21st century.

The people who survive on traditional ideal and not able to follow changes in fashion, will be considered a failure in the fashion test.

While those who pass the test of fashion will always spend their life with diet, exercise, cosmetic surgery and other treatments. Including shopping and buying clothes with famous brand new model.
